folie and mymind
Checked 4 October 2026
mymind is a private place to save anything you find: images, articles, notes, links, videos. It tags them with AI and syncs across your devices.
folie does a narrower job. It keeps the screenshots you take of interface design, and files each one by what it is: the component, the style, the typefaces, the colours and the text on it.
Side by side
| Feature | folie | mymind |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A Mac menu-bar app. Press ⌘⇧7, drag a box over anything on screen, and the screenshot is filed. | A cloud app for saving images, articles, notes, links and videos, with AI tagging and search. |
| Price | $9 once at launch (first 100 copies), then $15. Two Macs $18, then $30. Three Macs $27, then $45. | The Bookmarker $4.99 a month. Student of Life $7.99 a month or $79 a year. Mastermind $12.99 a month or $129 a year. No free plan listed. |

Where mymind is better
- It saves far more kinds of thing. folie only keeps screenshots.
- It is on your phone. folie is Mac only and does not sync.
- Nothing to set up. folie needs your own Claude API key or a local model before it can read a capture.
- It is a finished, shipping product with years behind it.
folie is Mac only, has no phone app, does not sync between machines, and needs either your own Claude API key (about a tenth of a cent a capture) or a model running on your Mac.
Where folie is different
- It is built around interface design, so a capture is filed as a pricing table or a nav, with a style like swiss or editorial.
- With the Chrome extension, the typefaces come from the page itself rather than a guess from pixels.
- Palettes export as CSS, Tailwind or hex.
- Your library is a folder on your disk. Back it up by copying it. Stop using folie and the files are still there.
- You pay once instead of every month.
Which one to pick
If you want one place for everything you read and see, on every device, mymind is the better fit. If what you keep is mostly screenshots of interfaces, and you want them on your Mac with the fonts and colours attached, folie is.
Questions
Is folie a mymind clone?

Can I use both?
